Park Cities Learning Differences Association is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to supporting the education and well-being of children with learning differences in the Highland Park Independent School District since 1972. PCLDA believes that every child can be successful in school, social relationships and be active participants in the community when provided with the right opportunities.
PCLDA supports the education and well-being of students with learning differences in the following ways:
- PCLDA supports our local community of students with learning differences via the Dale Lawrence Scholarship for post-graduate studies. Outstanding educators and staff in our community are recognized annually via The Julie Young Teacher Appreciation Awards.
- PCLDA grants funding requests to fulfill the educational needs of students with learning differences that are not provided within the school budget. Examples of funding requests fulfilled have provided specialized curricula for special education and dyslexia classrooms, technology and sensory items, and sending teachers and support staff to training to further their knowledge and expertise in working with our students.
PCLDA raises funds to support our mission in various ways, including a sensory-friendly Santa experience, an annual Pool & Garden Party, family memberships and donations. Please join us in supporting our very important mission!
